LFC FoundationExpansion of SMF Community Hubs
The SMF Community Hubs Programme continues to grow across the Liverpool City Region.
We are proud to celebrate the expansion of the programme with the addition of two outstanding new community hubs to our SMF Community Hubs Programme, whose work reflects the shared ambition to support families, empower young people, and tackle social inequality.
Built around welcoming, multi-purpose spaces, the SMF Community Hubs Programme supports local communities through essential services that strengthen wellbeing, reduce isolation, and create lasting, positive change.
Social Brokers play a vital role in “joining the dots” between residents, businesses, and community organisations. Their strong presence in Kirkdale — particularly through support provided to families connected with St Lawrence School — demonstrates the real impact of locally rooted partnership working. From advice and guidance services to ESOL provision, safer homes initiatives, after-school learning, and support addressing food insecurity, their collaborative and sustainability-focused approach closely align with the programme’s vision.
Meanwhile, The Bronte Youth and Community Centre brings more than five decades of community impact. Since opening in 1972, the centre has evolved from a boxing club into a vibrant hub supporting people of all ages. Located in the heart of the city, it delivers year-round programmes combining sport, education, and personal development within a safe, inclusive environment. Ongoing refurbishment will enable the expansion of youth and community provision, ensuring even greater reach and impact.
Collaboration sits at the heart of the programme, enabling the LFC Foundation to extend delivery beyond traditional club sites and into neighbourhood settings. With these additions, the SMF Community Hubs Programme now spans 11 hubs, united by the themes of Health, Learning, and Employability. Funding from the Steve Morgan Foundation will support refurbishment and staffing across both hubs, strengthening education, sport, homework support, and services that improve community wellbeing.
