LFC FoundationChampion of the Month: June 2024
Congratulations to Jack and Joseph who are our Champion of the Month for June!
Jack Morris and Joseph Lindsay were nominated by Rachel Unsworth for their ongoing commitment to the Premier League Primary Stars Programme.
Before working with the LFC Foundation, Jack & Joseph were getting into trouble for vandalism and destroying property outside of school, as well as disrespectful behaviour inside of school.
Rachel says…
“I started working with Jack & Joseph in the Spring term of 2024 as part of a targeted intervention. The headteacher at St Leo’s & Southmead Primary School raised concerns over their behaviour both inside and outside of school and wanted to try a different approach than the usual school behaviour policy which she felt was not making any positive changes.”
In collaboration with the Youth Interventions team, as part of the Primary Stars programme, Rachel has been working with the boys to achieve a Play Maker Award, this has allowed Jack & Joseph to support Rachel on delivery of PE activities as well as creating and leading groups of children from Year 3 to Year 6 on their own PE activities. The Play Maker Award has given Jack & Joseph the opportunity to be leaders and role models in their school and to other pupils, which has led to developing their leadership skills, public speaking, and confidence. Since working with Rachel during their lunch time behaviour intervention sessions, both Jack & Joseph have made so much progress and their behaviour has improved drastically.
Jack & Joseph have both shared that they feel more confident talking in front of a group and they have enjoyed being a leader and role model to younger children. They have also taken on additional leadership roles within the school such as helping the Head Teacher with a whole school assembly.
Since taking part in the lunch time intervention sessions and the afternoon Play Maker sessions, Jack and Joseph have been making better choices and have kept themselves out of causing trouble outside of school. Their behaviour has not been perfect inside of school, which we are continuing improving until it is, but the Head Teacher and their Year 6 teacher have noticed a massive difference in their attitudes and behaviours since working with the LFC Foundation.
We are proud of both Jack and Joseph’s progress and hope they continue to grow and evolve on their journey!
