LFC FoundationLocal school children surprised by men’s first team at Nike ‘Game On’ event
A group of local school children were given a day to remember at the AXA Training Centre recently when they were surprised by their heroes during a Nike ‘Game On’ event hosted by LFC Foundation.
The men’s first team surprised children by dropping in on the event, which was held to celebrate the activity and achievement of the Game On programme.
Manager Jurgen Klopp and his squad were on hand to meet the young children, sign autographs and get photos, creating lifetime memories for all those attending.
The children then enjoyed a tour of the AXA Training Centre before heading outside for a Game On session at LFC Academy, where they were joined by midfielder Dominik Szoboszlai and LFC legend Sami Hyypia to put them through their paces.
Game On launched in 2020 and is a collaborative project funded by Nike and delivered by LFC Foundation. The aim of the programme is to help young people across Merseyside access and benefit from a range of sports in their local area, as well as providing coaching opportunities through a new coaching academy.
The programme supporters young people ages seven to 12 from underserved communities and children of all abilities by providing them with opportunities to become members of local, diverse sports clubs and play a variety of sports.
In the first three years of the programme, over 8,000 children have been engaged, with coaching delivered in more than 15 different sports.
