Nearly 200 pupils from 15 schools came together at Anfield to explore the UN Sustainable Development Goals.

Pupils joined us at Anfield to support United Nations Day and its development goals, which focus on promoting peace, equality, opportunity and global cooperation to tackle shared challenges. The event was delivered through our Premier League Primary Stars and Onside programmes.

Through a range of interactive activities, the young people discovered how they can make a positive impact on the world around them. From prioritising the goals in a diamond-ranking exercise to developing and pitching their own sustainable project ideas, pupils were encouraged to think creatively about building a better future.

They also learned about Liverpool FC’s commitment to creating a better future for people, the planet and local communities through a variety of initiatives and partnerships that drive positive change.

Attendees heard from Wirral Grammar School sixth form students, who shared how they support mental health through a range of initiatives within their school community. Their inspiring presentation highlighted the positive impact of student-led wellbeing activities and brought the UN’s health and wellbeing goal to life for everyone in the room.

The session concluded with each school presenting its sustainable project pitch to a guest judging panel, which included Mighty Red and the Wirral Grammar School students. The presentations showcased the creativity, passion and innovative thinking of the young people as they shared their ideas for a more sustainable future.

Rishi Jain, director of impact and supporter engagement at Liverpool FC, said: "UN Day was a fantastic opportunity to bring young people from LFC Foundation programmes together to explore the positive impact they can have on the world around them, which is an integral part of The Red Way. It was inspiring to hear their ideas, see them learn from one another, and watch their confidence grow as they shared thoughtful and creative visions for a brighter future."
