Yes, you've read that correctly. Klopp doing the Sturridge.

The manager discussed a number of other topics at his media briefing inside Levi's Stadium, including potential changes for the game against AC Milan, Liverpool's style of play and pressing.

Wijnaldum: "Dirk [Kuyt] played for a lot of years for the national team and we met each other there. I asked him about the club and he told me lots of great stories."

Wijnaldum: "We must make it difficult on the training field to make each other better players. That's what I am trying to do."

Wijnaldum: "Rafa [Benitez] told me Liverpool was a big club, but he wanted me to stay at Newcastle. When the deal was agreed, he said to me 'congratulations'."

Wijnaldum: "The training is not different to what I am used to, but in my year at Newcastle we were playing differently on the counter-attack."

Wijnaldum: "Liverpool have won a lot of titles and had a lot of good players, but I want to know more about the club the longer I am here."

Klopp: "Always in life, if you only do the things that are easy for you, how do you improve? If you only do the things you like, how do you improve?"

Klopp: "I know about our quality, but it's my job to help the players show it all the time. I am really happy with the skills we combine in the squad."

Klopp: "Pressing is all about timing - it's not always about being there. It's about doing the right thing in the right moment, and creating the right moment.

Klopp: "We don't have the biggest number of defenders at the moment. Three injuries in this position is not too cool, but we have to play."

Klopp: "Those who have seen the training sessions of my team can say for sure there has been a big improvement."

Klopp: "I've never thought what I should call our style - it's about the football and winning games."

Klopp: "It's not always about [playing at] high intensity, it's about the moment. It's not always that you run like a crazy rabbit for 90 minutes all over the pitch."

Klopp: "At this moment, the players have different fitness levels but I want to see 100 per cent from them [in training]."

Klopp: "We want to give as many players as possible match time and we want to be competitive in this game, but first we have to see how they react in our training sessions."

Klopp: "The line-up will be a little different. The guys who played 30 minutes [against Chelsea], hopefully we can give them a few more minutes in this game."

Klopp: "This battle [for No.1 spot] is decided for the next few weeks. Hopefully Simon can stay in the race and not get injured. We need to give Manninger and George match time now."

Klopp on Karius: "Six, eight, 10 weeks... Whatever it takes. It's not the longest time but not the best. Timing for injuries is never the best, not for him and not for us."

Klopp confirms Loris Karius has suffered a broken hand: “It’s not too cool. There is never a good time for injuries. It’s not cool for the boy, it’s not cool for us but we can’t change it so we have to take it.”

Klopp: "These games are important - but not as important as our [training] sessions."

Klopp: “Today we analysed the game against Chelsea and you can use it, of course. Obviously it is pretty sure we will have another line-up at the start of the season, but it gives you information about what was OK and what wasn’t.”
