Jeremie Frimpong was pleased to be part of a complete performance from Liverpool in the victory at Marseille on Wednesday night.

The Reds ran out deserved 3-0 winners in France on matchday seven of the Champions League.

An intelligent free-kick from Dominik Szoboszlai put the visitors 1-0 up right on the stroke of half-time.

The points were wrapped up after the break by a Geronimo Rulli own goal and stoppage-time Cody Gakpo finish.

Speaking to Liverpoolfc.com post-match, Frimpong said: "We defended well, we attacked well, we played well.

"Nothing went wrong. I don't think we conceded that many chances. It was a well-deserved win.

"We played really well, we kept the ball, we created chances and finished them today, so I can't complain."

Frimpong was the creative force behind the second goal at the Orange Velodrome that gave Liverpool breathing room.

After skipping past Igor Paixao on his way to the right touchline, the full-back looked to find Mohamed Salah's dart towards goal, only for the pass to strike the boot of the 'keeper and go in.

"So when I got past him, I saw Mo, he ran towards the goalkeeper and I just fired it and it hit the guy," Frimpong recalled. "I don't care, it went in, so it's good."

The result leaves Frimpong and his teammates sitting in fourth spot in the league-phase standings ahead of next week's conclusion.

A win against Qarabag at Anfield would guarantee automatic qualification for the last 16.

Frimpong finished: "We're in a good position in the Champions League. Obviously we're going to take every game as it comes but we're still in the competition. Of course there's a chance to see something at the end."
