In his latest column, Liverpool FC Women head coach Gareth Taylor reflects on the Adobe Women's FA Cup win at London Bees and looks ahead to Sunday's league meeting with Tottenham Hotspur.

It was a great weekend for us getting the win at London Bees and bringing in three more quality additions to the team.

I changed the team around to give players some minutes and also to integrate new signings Denise O'Sullivan and Martha Thomas.

We knew Martha cannot play against her parent club this weekend, so it was a good opportunity to give her a debut and great to see her get a goal.

Martha is a good striker and is proven at WSL and international level. I'm really pleased to have her onboard and I'm really looking forward to working with her.

I'm delighted to get Denise into the club and she will bring a lot to the team. She got a goal and if she can keep adding them to her game then I think that will help us even more.

It was important as well for Alice Bergstrom to get her first two goals for the club. I thought she was really good when she came on. She had a lot of final actions, goals and goal attempts – which is obviously something we have been missing this season.

We announced another arrival on Monday, with Aurélie Csillag coming in to strengthen our forward line. This is another good signing for us because she is a player with plenty of potential.

She has a lot of features to her game, pace and power, and I'm looking for her to add some goals for us.

Alejandra Bernabe started at left-back against London Bees and did well.

It's tough when you sign for a club when you have an injury that keeps you out for longer than you anticipated.

We need as much competition in every position as we can possibly get. Hopefully now with the signings we have made we can start to really compete with each other for games.

Our top scorer Beata Olsson is getting closer to a return to action. I'm not too sure if she will be ready for this weekend but certainly we are hopeful she will be back for the Manchester United game.

We go back to Barclays Women's Super League matters this Sunday when we host Tottenham Hotspur at St Helens Stadium (kick-off 11.55am GMT).

Hopefully we are in a better place than where we were the last time we played Spurs.

They are the team we have to look at and admire actually, because they really acted in the summer and invested a lot that has allowed them to get where they are.

None of these games coming up are easy but we know we need points and we need to start pushing up the table and we have to win every single thing we can get.

I thought our performance against London City Lionesses was a good start by getting a clean sheet. That gives us a solid platform to build on and go from there.

We want to win games and to be able to do that we need to be functioning at the top end of the field.

We have brought in some players who will help us to do that and that is going to help us more and more.

I know you will give our latest new signings a great welcome at St Helens Stadium on Sunday and, as always, we hope to do you proud.

Thank you for your continued support.

YNWA,

Gareth
