LFC FoundationSammy Lee, Natasha Dowie and Becky Easton to join LFC Foundation’s Kip on the Kop
Sammy Lee, Natasha Dowie and Becky Easton to join LFC Foundation’s Kip on the Kop, as Anfield’s biggest night of the year for the city’s homelessness community returns.
The former Reds will join hundreds of supporters for a night on the famous stand in support of people affected by homelessness across the Liverpool City Region. They’ll be joined by LFC fan and comedian John Bishop and LFC Foundation Community Ambassador Chris Kirkland for the sleepout, which returns to Anfield on Saturday 26 September.
Sammy Lee, who also took part in last year’s event, made almost 300 appearances for Liverpool across the 1970s and 80s, winning five league titles, four League Cups and two European Cups.
LFC Women’s record goalscorer and club ambassador Natasha Dowie enjoyed two spells with the Reds and was part of the side that won back-to back Women’s Super League titles in 2013 and 2014. She’s joined by former LFC Women defender Becky Easton, who also represented the club across two spells and was also part of both title-winning squads.
Now in its fourth year, Kip on the Kop has grown into an on-the-ground commitment to the city.
Funds raised will go directly to two established local programmes; LFC Foundation’s Pathway to Works, which provides sport-based employability sessions and mentoring for young people who have experienced homelessness, and the outreach and wellbeing work of Liverpool Homeless FC (LHFC.)
LHFC uses football to engage people experiencing homelessness, rough sleeping, temporary accommodation, social isolation, addiction recovery and other forms of social exclusion.
Close to 4,000 individuals are engaged with LHFC, thanks to support from the LFC Foundation.
Last year alone, more than 400 supporters slept out on the Kop, raising £119,575.
While spending a night at Anfield cannot replicate the reality of homelessness, the event aims to raise awareness of the challenges faced by people without a safe and secure place to call home.
Supporters can currently claim 25% off registration using the code TAKE25LFC. Participants are encouraged to raise a minimum of £250 in donations.
Entrants must be aged 16 or over, anyone under 18 must be accompanied by a responsible adult.
