Our Health, Learning & Employability teams have been back in schools over the past month working with primary and secondary schoolchildren across Liverpool City Region.

Over the past two weeks, the teams across the Foundation have been working with schools and supporting young people through our programmes.

From classroom learning and community volunteering to football competitions and inspiring player visits, young people have benefitted from a wide range of opportunities both in and outside of school.

MOVE: Healthy lifestyles and emotional wellbeing

Our MOVE team has continued delivering healthy lifestyle sessions in primary schools across the city.

At Millbrook Primary School, pupils have been learning about the importance of physical activity and the positive impact exercise can have on their health and wellbeing. Meanwhile, sessions at Stockbridge Village Primary School and Our Lady of Good Help focused on emotional wellbeing, helping young people understand and develop strategies to manage their emotions.

LFC Scholars inspiring Premier League Primary Stars pupils

The Premier League Primary Stars team launched a new series of Player Engagement Visits, giving pupils a unique opportunity to meet and learn from the next generation of LFC players.

Academy scholars Izzy Garin and Jacphet Garan visited St Joseph The Worker and St Lawrence, joining Year 6 PE lessons before taking part in a Q&A session with pupils. The visits provided valuable insight into life within the Academy, with children asking questions about football, education and their journeys as young players.

The first sessions received excellent feedback from pupils, school staff and the scholars themselves, with more visits planned this year!

Supporting attendance and punctuality

Success in the classroom begins with attendance and being on time, that’s why the our Premier League Primary Stars team have been delivering assemblies focused on the importance of attendance and punctuality.

Visiting eight schools and reaching more than 2,000 pupils, the sessions explored how regular attendance can positively influence learning and personal development.

Through interactive discussions, pupils identified some of the barriers that can affect attendance and considered practical ways schools, families and young people can work together to overcome them.

The initiative demonstrates how Premier League Primary Stars continues to use the power of sport and the LFC badge to engage young people in important conversations beyond the classroom.

Mini Leagues return!

The LFC Foundation Mini League Programme is back for the 2026/27 academic year, creating more opportunities for children from Years 1 to 6 to represent their schools through football.

Competitions will once again take place at Anfield Sports and Community Centre and Redgate Primary School, helping to reduce travel barriers and improve accessibility for schools.

Designed to be inclusive and accessible, the programme gives young people of all abilities the chance to enjoy competitive football, build confidence, develop teamwork skills and experience the pride of representing their school.

We Empower girls mini league kicks off

The first round of fixtures in this year's We Empower Girls Mini League took place on 1 October, bringing together 50 girls from 5 primary schools across Merseyside.

The competition provides Year 5 and Year 6 pupils with the opportunity to play football in a safe, supportive and inclusive environment, while developing confidence, teamwork and leadership skills.

The opening event was made even more memorable by a visit from LFC Ambassador and former LFC Women’s player Natasha Dowie, who spent time speaking with participants and encouraging them to believe in themselves, follow their ambitions and dream big.

Maghull High pupils give back through community volunteering

Onside pupils from Maghull High School, visited the Clubmoor allotment on 1 October to support the local community through a day of volunteering.

Supported by Christine and Liam, the young people helped harvest a variety of fresh fruit and vegetables, putting the skills they have developed through the school's Gardening Club into practice. The experience provided an opportunity to learn outside the classroom while making a positive contribution to the local community.

The visit is another example of how the Onside programme creates meaningful opportunities for young people to develop practical skills, build confidence and engage with their local area.
