The first players set to represent LFC Legends in their upcoming match against Chelsea Legends at Stamford Bridge have been confirmed.

Goalkeeper Pepe Reina is set to make his first appearance for LFC Legends in the fixture, will take place on Saturday 11 October (kick-off 3pm), in support of both club’s official charities.

Reina made almost 400 appearances for the Reds after joining from Villarreal in 2005, winning the FA Cup, League Cup and UEFA Super Cup during his time as the Liverpool FC first-choice goalkeeper. He claimed the Premier League Golden Glove award for most clean sheets in three consecutive seasons from 2005 to 2008 and became a firm fan-favourite for his commanding presence and leadership from the back.

Reina will be joined by fellow shot-stopper Sander Westerveld, part of the Reds’ famous treble-winning season in 2000-01.

Defenders Martin Škrtel, who made more than 300 appearances for the Reds, Ragnar Klavan, Martin Kelly and Fábio Aurélio, the first Brazilian to sign for Liverpool FC, are also confirmed on the team sheet.

In midfield, Yossi Benayoun and Jay Spearing will provide stability and creative flair, while Robbie Keane, Ryan Babel and former Liverpool Women striker Natasha Dowie will bring attacking threat in the final third.

More names will be added to the team sheet in the coming weeks.

As announced earlier this month, the LFC Legends team will be led by former Anfield heroes Ian Rush, John Aldridge, Phil Thompson and Sammy Lee.

The match, in association with Forever Reds, will see all proceeds raised support the life-changing work of LFC Foundation and Chelsea Foundation.

Last season, the LFC Foundation supported more than 145,000 people. The club’s official charity helps tackle social inequalities in its communities through programmes that have a positive impact on health, learning and employment outcomes.

Tickets for the match are priced at £35 for adults and £17.50 for concessions and can be purchased at ticketing.liverpoolfc.com.
