LFC FoundationLiverpool FC celebrates International Women's Day 2026
To mark International Women’s Day 2026, Liverpool FC in collaboration with EC Markets hosted an insightful panel discussion at AXA Melwood, the home of LFC Women, bringing together colleagues, partners and community representatives to explore this year’s global campaign theme, Give to Gain.
Invited guests took part in two panel discussions centred on Give to Gain – a theme encouraging generosity, collaboration and the power of reciprocity. When people, organisations and communities give generously, opportunities and support for women grow.
The first panel featured representatives from the LFC Foundation, including employees, coaches and participants who shared their experiences of how giving back and community involvement have shaped their personal and professional journeys.
The second panel, hosted by Sky Sports presenter Harriet Prior, explored the broader significance of this year’s theme and how championing women benefits everyone across the club, the city and the wider football community.
This panel included Jenny Beacham, LFC’s chief financial officer, Lisa Hoten-Pool, deputy CEO Women in Football and Laoura Salveta, head of brand partnerships at EC Markets, official club partner.
Throughout March, as part of Red Together – the club’s commitment to equality, diversity and inclusion – LFC, LFC Foundation and official club partners have also delivered a series of events and content celebrating women and spotlighting their contributions.
Partner-led campaign activity included content from AXA featuring LFC Women’s player Denise O’Sullivan, LFC Women’s former captain and now technical coordinator Niamh Fahey, social media content producer at AXA UK and Triathlete Lucy Crookston, head of strategic growth and development at AXA Health International and ex tennis player Lindsey Goddard. The round table discussion was hosted by the CEO and founder of Voice in Sport and ex-football player and downhill skier Stef Strack.
The 'from the locker room to the boardroom' conversation was filmed on location at St Helens Stadium and highlights the role of sport as a catalyst for leadership. It explores how playing sport can foster a mindset that benefits women and girls by developing essential skills such as commitment, teamwork, resilience, and patience—skills that can support career and personal success. Wasabi released two videos featuring men’s and women’s players. In the men’s version titled ‘a message to our daughters’, Alisson Becker, Wataru Endo and Andy Roberston each spoke directly to their daughters in an honest, intimate and heartfelt message about how they have inspired them and what they hope for them in the future.
In the women’s version titled ‘a message to the next generation’ Jenna Clark, Jennifer Falk and Kirsty Maclean talk directly to the grassroots players of today about their journey to become professional footballers and what advice they would give for the next generation to gain.
The LFC Foundation’s International Women’s Day activity included a She Inspires International Women's Day themed Primary and Secondary School Festivals, the launch of a Female Focussed Employability Programme along with a new women’s walking football session and started a new pilot workshop called ‘In Sync’ aimed at secondary school pupils which focuses on the connection between the menstrual cycle and its hormonal impacts on mental health.
Rishi Jain, director of impact at Liverpool FC, said: “It’s great to see so many incredible female role models within the LFC family come together to recognise International Women’s Day and celebrate Red Together.
“Red Together, which is a key element of The Red Way people pillar, we are committed to creating an inclusive environment and making LFC as welcoming as possible to all. We are committed to championing women across the club and inspiring the next generation.”
