The LFC Foundation’s Red Neighbours team has officially launched Red Kitchen, a brand-new community initiative designed to support local residents in developing valuable cooking skills, building confidence in the kitchen, and reducing social isolation.

In line with The Red Way, Liverpool FC’s club wide commitment to creating a better future for our people, our planet and our communities, Red Kitchen brings this spirit to life locally by helping our community connect, learn new skills and share time together.

The first Red Kitchen session took place on Thursday at Anfield Stadium, hosted inside the Carlsberg Dugout. A small group of Red Neighbours participants were invited to roll up their sleeves and take part in an interactive cooking workshop led by LFC Head Chef, Gary.

Throughout the session, attendees learned how to prepare a nutritious, affordable meal, receiving step-by-step guidance from Gary as they cooked together in a relaxed, friendly environment. Participants left not only with new skills, but also with the printed recipe to recreate the dishes at home—plus the meal they prepared during the session.

Red Kitchen has been created with the aim of supporting the older members of our local community by providing a welcoming space to learn something new, meet people, and share positive experiences. As the cost of living continues to challenge many households, the programme also helps participants explore simple and cost-effective ways to cook healthy meals.

By focusing on both skill-building and social connection, Red Kitchen supports Red Neighbours’ ongoing commitment to:

  • Helping reduce food poverty through practical education
  • Reducing social isolation by bringing people together
  • Empowering local residents with lifelong cooking skills

The programme will run once a month, with each session featuring a new recipe and theme. Red Neighbours hopes that by giving participants the confidence to cook at home and the chance to enjoy time with others, Red Kitchen will become a valued programme from our community engagement team!
