The trip to Dublin helped to empower young people through football and education.

The LFC Foundation recently embarked on an inspiring trip to Dublin, aiming to strengthen its partnership with three renowned affiliate clubs: Bohemians FC, Shamrock Rovers, and Shelbourne FC. This initiative focused not only on football but also on imparting valuable life skills through education-focused workshops, emphasising the holistic development of young participants. Delivering on a variety of topics including mental health and well-being and Life skills.

Working across 3 days each camp was tailored to the needs of the local club and its targeted area of work.

A Collaborative Effort

This trip was a significant milestone in the ongoing efforts of the LFC Foundation to make a positive impact in the Dublin community through sports and education. By partnering with Shelbourne FC, Shamrock Rovers, and Bohemians FC, the Foundation aimed to utilise the rich football culture of Dublin while introducing educational programmes that could benefit young people both on and off the field. The relationship, now in its third year, is thriving, and through ongoing collaboration, we expect to garner further support and have a greater impact.

Football Camps: A Blend of Skills and Fun

The core of the visit was the series of free football camps hosted at each club. These camps were designed to develop the technical skills of young people, enhance their understanding of the game, and foster teamwork and sportsmanship. Coaches from the LFC Foundation, along with local coaches, provided high-quality training sessions that were both engaging and educational.

Participants at Shelbourne FC, Shamrock Rovers, and Bohemians FC had the unique opportunity to learn new skills and develop Key life skills associated with football such as communication, teamwork and collaboration. The camps included drills, tactical sessions, and friendly matches, ensuring a comprehensive footballing experience. The young players displayed enthusiasm and a keen willingness to learn, making the camps a resounding success. All participants went away with an LFC gift for their hard work.

Coach Development: Train-the-Trainer with Bohemians FC

An integral part of the LFC Foundation's trip was the delivery of a "train-the-trainer" coach Continuing Professional Development (CPD) programme in partnership with Bohemians FC. This initiative aimed to enhance the skills and knowledge of coaches from Bohemians FC affiliate clubs, ensuring a sustainable impact on the local football community.

The Coach Education holistic workshop was delivered by experienced coach Karl Carney, who provided in-depth practical & theoretical content on the 'importance of principles & values to create a transformational environment', 'coaching constraints & considerations', and 'player-centred approach to long-term player development' through the 'Liverpool Way' curriculum. This programme empowered local coaches to deliver high-quality training sessions and foster the growth of young talent within their clubs. The emphasis on coach development underpins the Foundation's commitment to creating a lasting legacy in the communities it serves.

Strengthening Community Ties

The LFC Foundation's visit to Dublin not only benefitted the young participants but also strengthened the ties between Liverpool FC and its clubs. Shelbourne FC, Shamrock Rovers, and Bohemians FC have long been pillars of their communities, and this collaboration showcased the power of football in bringing people together and driving positive change.
