The LFC Foundation hosted an inspiring football morning in Hong Kong alongside Special Olympics as the Reds kick off their pre-season tour.

Over 30 adults with a range of impairments were invited to the Tseung Kwan O Football Training Centre to celebrate the spirit of inclusion through sport and enjoy a morning of football sessions.

LFC CEO Billy Hogan and Chief Commercial Officer Ben Latty were in attendance to show their support alongside club legends Sami Hyypia, Jerzy Dudek, Lucas Leiva and Niamh Fahey.

The event was also attended by LFC International Academy and over 100 children were also able to enjoy the activities.

LFC Foundation and Special Olympics have worked together on a number of occasions previously including during pre-season tours to Singapore and the United States.

Special Olympics provide year-round sports training and athletic competition in a variety of Olympic-type sports for children and adults with disabilities, providing opportunities to develop physical fitness and enjoy taking part in sport.

Matt Parish, LFC Foundation CEO, said: “When the club goes on pre-season tour we are delighted to be able to be a part of that and to help make a positive impact in the local community. Working with organisations like Special Olympics is an important part of that and we are happy to have been able to work with them again this year to promote inclusion and create lasting memories with the people and places we visit.”

Former LFC captain Hyypia added: “We know that football has the power to bring people together and that was clear to see today. It was a special day for everyone involved and events like this just highlight the importance of the work of the LFC Foundation, not only in Liverpool but internationally.”
