LFC Foundation were proud to recognise community coach Billy Gerard as ‘One of Our Own’ at the Reds dedicated Communities match at the weekend.

The Communities game, which took place at the Reds clash with Brentford at Anfield on Saturday 6th May, celebrated the fantastic work of LFC Foundation and the life changing opportunities they create for the most underserved communities across the Liverpool City region and beyond.

Billy was nominated to receive the Premier League’s ‘One Of Our Own’ prize by his colleagues across the Foundation for his passion and dedication to supporting young people across some of Merseyside’s most high need areas.

During his ten years with LFC Foundation Billy has helped break down territorial barriers and supported thousands of young people into grassroots and semi-professional football, further education, and employment.

LFC Legend and Ambassador John Barnes and LFC Foundation chief executive Matt Parish presented Billy with his commemorative personalised plaque and ‘One of our Own’ scarf during a special half-time presentation which gave fans the opportunity to congratulate him in true LFC style.

‘One Of Our Own’ is part of the Premier League Supports Campaign, which recognises exceptional commitment and contribution made by participants, staff, or football figures in their community.

Commenting on Billy’s recognition, LFC Foundation’s head of programmes, Gemma Smith, said: “It is a pleasure to nominate Billy as One of Our Own for the Premier League Supports campaign. He is such a pleasure to work alongside and is a real asset to LFC Foundation and the local communities we serve.

“On behalf of everyone at LFC Foundation, congratulations on your award Billy.”
