LFC FoundationLFC Foundation and Steve Morgan Foundation partnership goes from strength to strength
2026 marks the sixth year of the partnership between the LFC Foundation and the Steve Morgan Foundation, with over £5million committed so far for the benefit of participants.
The Steve Morgan Foundation provides support through our community hubs programme, working with nine hubs across the Liverpool City Region. With this vital funding we are able to support thousands of people every year.
The LFC Foundation recently updated all of our physical signage throughout our community hubs to recognise the work with Steve Morgan Foundation. New logo’s - same commitment to the community.
Pauline, 66 has experienced severe mental health problems since she was 19. Her moods swings quite a bit and she can find it difficult to maintain relationships.
She now attends the Netherton Feelgood social groups three or four days a week and finds that the support she receives here helps her to keep stable. She describes Netherton Feelgood as her “medication” as she says the support she receives is incredible.
“We love it here. It is our happy place where we can relax and enjoy the garden as we don’t have a nice garden to sit in!”
Netherton Feelgood Factory is a community-led, healthy living centre, operating in Sefton in Merseyside, who’s mission is to help local people improve their health, well being and quality of life.
A staff member from Beacon Dixon’s Broadgreen added further impact the partnership has had on their participants.
“A father and two children were highlighted to us through after the children racked up debt in the canteen. After investigating and communicating, we were able to find out the family were Asylum Seekers.
“We have since been able to support with alternative access to free school meal funding, as well as inviting the family to the food bank. The family has attended each session so far and through limited English, expressed their sincere gratitude for this support.”

A staff member at Anfield Sports and Community Centre added:
“We have received numerous positive feedback following the rubber infill and maintenance that was carried out thanks to the funding of Steve Morgan Foundation. One of our junior teams who train at the facility and play their home fixtures on Saturday mornings expressed their gratitude for the works and explained to us that their felt more confident in the sessions due to the safety of the participants and the quality of the pitch.”
ASCC as its fondly referred to as, is a community centre and sports facility located in Anfield.
Sean’s Place, another Hub LFC Foundation support through the funding of Steve Morgan Foundation, which is a mental health support centre for men in Bootle added:
“We had a referral to Sean’s Place in September 2023 and the gentleman showed remarkable commitment to understanding and improving his mental health. From the outset, he engaged fully with our Suicide Prevention Officer to explore the root causes of his suicidal ideation and develop a deeper awareness of his emotional wellbeing. Through this work, he was able to identify key triggers and early warning signs that indicated when his mental health was beginning to decline. He worked collaboratively with our team to create a tailored plan of preventative strategies aimed at keeping himself safe and emotionally regulated.
“In addition to therapeutic support, he has taken full advantage of our wide-ranging social support programme as a way of rebuilding his self-esteem, fostering a sense of belonging, and developing a more positive self-image. He is a regular and valued participant in our Coffee & Connect sessions, which he attends twice a week, and has also embraced activities such as meditation and yoga, games afternoons, and movie nights. Notably, he has become an enthusiastic member of our choir—an experience he not only enjoys immensely but also takes great pride in. He recently invited his family to one of the choir performances, marking a milestone moment in his journey and strengthening his support network.
“He is now highly self-aware in managing his mental health. He maintains open and honest communication with our team, particularly when he begins to feel vulnerable or recognises signs of potential self-harm or suicidal thoughts. This level of insight and transparency enabled him to proactively seek support from us following a recent bereavement—a period he recognised as particularly challenging. Through joint efforts, the team were able to navigate this time together and develop new approaches to support his wellbeing.
“As a result of his continued involvement, he has built strong, meaningful friendships within the Sean’s Place community. He is now seen as a well-respected and much-liked member of our service.”
Tiber, a football centre and community space in Toxteth, concluded with feedback on the progression of a 17-year-old participant who has benefited greatly from the opportunity LFC Foundation and Steve Morgan Foundation have provided.
“A 17-year-old young man joined the Football Centre market research group to support the team in engaging community in deciding what we activities should be implemented within the new building. Whilst doing this he expressed a desire to get involved in coaching some of the younger children attending Tiber’s free football sessions. He started off volunteering and learning how to support and bring young players aged 4 – 7 years through their first initial training sessions. He has now built up the confidence to take a small group of 5-year-olds into their own unique session.
In his own words: “I love the fact that I have been given the opportunity to work at Tiber. Everyone within the team is very supportive and I have learned a few skills including communication and leadership; this will help me with my future aspirations.”
These testimonies are only a small few from some our community hubs, who's impact on the people who attend are vast.
Thanks to funding from the Steve Morgan Foundation, further community hubs are due to open in the coming months.
