LFC Women duo Faye Kirby and Gemma Evans recently visited an LFC Foundation girls football session to help inspire the next generation of female footballers.

The pair attended a Premier League Kicks girls' session at Anfield Sports and Community Centre, where they spent time meeting and supporting the 30 young girls in attendance.

The visit began with an engaging Q&A, giving the youngsters the opportunity to ask questions about life as a professional footballer, their journey in to the game , the challenges they faced on the way and how they overcame them.

Evans and Kirby shared their personal experiences and advice on how to achieve their goals while reinforcing how important it is to believe in themselves and to enjoy playing the game.

After the Q&A, the players headed out to the pitch to take part in a football session where they joined the girls to offer encouragement and play in small-sided games.

Kirby said: “We always enjoy visiting the LFC Foundation and meeting some of the incredible people they work with. The girls were brilliant and it’s so important that these young girls can see that there is a pathway for them and if we are able to help inspire and encourage them then we are privileged to be able to do that.”

Evans added: “We have all been in the same position as these girls in the past, it’s fantastic that the LFC Foundation has these sessions for girls to be able to participate regularly at this age and hopefully these girls keep attending and keep enjoying playing the game we all love.”

The LFC Foundation’s Premier League Kicks girls sessions are designed to create a safe, welcoming and supportive space for young women and girls to enjoy football and stay active.

Funded by the Premier League, the sessions are delivered by LFC Foundation coaches in local community venues across the Liverpool City Region, with a focus on football skills, building confidence and encouraging teamwork.

The girls-only sessions take place weekly on Tuesday and Wednesday evenings for girls aged between eight and 16, more details can be found at liverpoolfc.com/foundation/premier-league-kicks-football.
