This years baby loss awareness week has been one of bravery, love and compassion from our Honeysuckle FC families

These are all traits they show all year round, however baby loss awareness week is a poignant moment in the calendar which allows us to reflect, remember and commemorate all of our much loved and missed, beautiful babies.

Our dads and men marked the start of baby loss awareness week by lighting candles during our weekly football and changing room chat session, discussing ways they learn to live with their loss and how they remember their little ones.

Honeysuckle families and LFC Foundation staff then attended the two baby loss remembrance services at St George’s Hall with a number of our dads sharing their stories on a beautiful evening of remembrance.

We also joined forces with Angels United to take part in the annual Baby Loss Awareness trophy at Bower Fold Stadium. The score finished 3-3 as both teams shared the trophy in honour of their babies.

This years baby loss awareness week culminated with our families taking part in the “wave of light” joining families across the world in lighting candles at 7pm to remember all of the babies that have passed away too soon.

Honeysuckle FC is a programme designed to support men who have experienced baby loss, football can be a powerful tool for finding support. It provides a safe environment for men who’ve experienced baby loss, to spend some time enjoying physical activity whilst allowing them to feel that they have the support of not only clinical staff but from their teammates too.

If you’ve been affected by baby loss and are interested in joining the group please contact:  Mark Henderson - Mental Health Coordinator: mark.henderson@liverpoolfc.com
