LegendsFive more players confirmed for legends charity match at Anfield
A further five players have been confirmed for the LFC Foundation legends charity match in March with Sami Hyypia returning to Anfield for the meeting with Borussia Dortmund.
Over two decades on from helping the Reds lift the Champions League in 2005, the former Reds defender will pull on an LFC shirt again on Saturday March 28 in support of the club’s official charity.
Hyypia, who made 464 appearances and scored 35 goals during his ten years at the club, will join Fabio Aurelio, Gregory Vignal, Martin Kelly and Yossi Benayoun as the latest recruits in the Reds squad.
Aurelio, who became the first Brazilian to sign for Liverpool in July 2006, again returns to Anfield for this year’s Legends fixture, whilst Vignal is no stranger to LFC Legends fixtures having returned to Anfield to net for the Legends team against Ajax back in 2024.
Kelly and Benayoun were both key members of the squad who beat Chelsea Legends at Stamford Bridge earlier this season and will pull on a Reds shirt again.
All five join goalkeepers Jerzy Dudek, Pepe Reina and Sander Westerveld for the charity match, which will take place at 3pm GMT on Saturday March 28, 2026.
As always, all of the proceeds from this fixture - supported by AXA and held in association with Forever Reds - will go directly towards the work of LFC Foundation and Forever Reds.
Funds raised will support LFC Foundation's employability programmes, which help people across the community to find work, gain qualifications and develop new skills through mentoring and training. The game will also contribute to the Foundation's long-term strategy and its ambition to support 500,000 people a season by 2030.
