LFC FoundationEmployability Programme's Interactive Career Fair
LFC Foundation Employability Team brought together students from local colleges, and participants from our employability programmes for an Interactive Careers Fair packed with hands-on activities and sector insights.
The event was set up in a carousel format, giving young people the chance to rotate through stations, hear from industry professionals, and engage with a wide range of employers, universities, and training providers. It was a fun, interactive, and genuinely engaging day for everyone involved.
Tilly Leefé and Melissa O’Neill from Sodexo Live!/ACC Liverpool delivered an engaging activity where young people tested their measuring skills while learning about what it’s like to work at the ACC and the current opportunities available.
Adam Sheldon from Big Egg Films introduced participants to his professional camera equipment, explaining how he uses it in his day-to-day work before setting up an interactive challenge. Young people were invited to generate ideas for a short film addressing real-life issues such as poverty, county lines, and drug abuse, encouraging them to think creatively about how film can be used to highlight and tackle social challenges.
Representatives Matt, Katie, Wendy and Katie from Merseyside Police delivered a workshop highlighting the diverse career paths into the police, the opportunities available once serving, and the range of apprenticeship routes open to young people. Their session sparked genuine interest, with one attendee commenting that they “really enjoyed the talk and got a lot from it.”
Alex Keyter and Rory Kane from Generative Minds introduced young people to the world of AI and explored how artificial intelligence can support the future of work and enhance employment opportunities. Their session sparked curiosity and positive conversations about the role of AI in everyday life.
Steve Leftley from the Sport Development team at the LFC Foundation got participants moving with a lively mini football session, complemented by insights into player analysis and coaching methods used to help young athletes grow. Young people were fully engaged—having fun while learning about new opportunities within sport.
Emily Garcia from the STEM team at the LFC Foundation delivered an afternoon of hands-on activities featuring mini car robots. Young people worked together to problem-solve, collaborate, and explore a variety of STEM-related sectors in an exciting and meaningful way.
Alongside these activities, representatives from LFC Recruitment, Liverpool John Moores University, Liverpool Hope University, Knowsley Council, The King’s Trust and Access Industry spoke with young people one-to-one, promoting opportunities, exploring pathways into higher education, and helping them build clarity around their next steps.
Former professional goalkeeper Chris Kirkland also attended, sharing his personal career journey and encouraging young people to adopt a positive attitude, perseverance, and self-belief—all essential qualities when pursuing a career, applying for jobs, and entering the workplace.
We were also delighted to welcome Alex Cain, a participant from our employability programme, who joined the event as a freelance content creator for the day. He captured standout moments and has since produced a collection of engaging videos that reflect the energy and impact of the Careers Fair. These will be used to showcase the event and promote future Interactive Career Fairs, demonstrating the real-world opportunities available through LFC Foundation Employability programmes.
The Interactive Careers Fair is all about bringing employers, businesses, providers, universities, and young people together in one space—building knowledge, sparking inspiration, and creating meaningful connections for the young people of Merseyside.
