LFC FoundationCreating Opportunities for the Next Generation of Female Footballers
Our U10 and U11 Emerging Talent Centre squads welcomed the Football Association of Wales to the Academy for the opening fixtures of the season.
The event provided a valuable opportunity for 71 young female players to test themselves in a competitive environment, showcase their development, and gain experience against high-quality opposition.
Fixtures such as these play a crucial role in helping players apply their learning from training sessions, develop their game understanding, and build confidence both on and off the pitch as they continue to progress within the Emerging Talent Centre pathway.
This season, our Emerging Talent Centre programme aims to engage and support 960 female players through a combination of high-quality coaching, competitive games opportunities, talent identification, and innovative player development initiatives.
Since its launch in 2022, the Girls' Emerging Talent Centre programme has continued to transform the female player pathway by increasing accessibility and promoting inclusivity.
The Centres provide aspiring players with enhanced development opportunities closer to home, ensuring that talented young footballers can access the support they need regardless of their background or circumstances.
The programme is part of a wider commitment to growing the women's and girls' game across the country.
In support of this vision, the Premier League has committed £6.8 million over the next three years, ensuring that Emerging Talent Centres remain free to attend.
Removing financial barriers for families is a significant step towards making the player pathway more accessible and inclusive, allowing more talented young players to benefit from high-quality development opportunities.
This continued investment will not only increase the number of girls participating in the programme but also strengthen the quality and diversity of the talent pool across the country.
By widening access and providing players with the tools, experiences, and support they need to succeed, Emerging Talent Centres are playing a key role in shaping the future of the women's game.
As the new season gets underway, more girls than ever have the opportunity to take their first steps on the pathway towards professional football.
Inspired by the achievements of the Lionesses and supported by a growing network of development opportunities, the next generation of players can continue to dream big, develop their potential, and create their own success stories in the game.
