Congratulations to Brenda who is our Champion of the Month for October 2025!!

Brenda was nominated by Jen Dargen for her fantastic commitment towards our Red Neighbours programme!

Brenda is an active member of our Walking Netball team, as well as a massive support towards our ‘Foodbank Fridays’. She is a valued participant of the Foundation and goes above and beyond to consistently support our local community since she was young.

Brenda’s journey of began at age seven when she joined the Guides. She went on to earn her Queen's Guide Award and has since devoted 57 years to leading Rainbows, Brownies, and Guides, earning her 50-year service award and continuing to run her local Brownie unit today. Her impact on generations of young girls is immeasurable, instilling values of confidence, kindness, and community service.

For 37 years, she has also volunteered at Speke Hall with the National Trust, where she now runs Mini Makers, a weekly craft session for preschool children. Her creativity and warmth make learning fun and accessible for the youngest in our community.

Brenda is equally committed to the older generation. At nearly 75, she helps run a local lunch club for older people, a role she’s held for 12 years, offering companionship, laughter, and care to many.

At her local church, Brenda has worn many hats over 20+ years church warden, verger, administrator, florist, and now a member of the Parochial Church Council. Her knowledge, kindness, and persistence (especially in securing supermarket flower donations!) have kept the community blooming: literally and figuratively.

As a Mothers’ Union Trustee and area lead, Brenda provides training and support across the region, helping women grow in faith and leadership. She previously volunteered at a food bank, and while she modestly says she "only" donates now, her generosity continues to feed and sustain many.

Outside her formal volunteering, Brenda knits for charity, sings in a community choir, and even finds time for walking netball! A retired teacher, her commitment to lifelong learning and service remains undiminished.

Brenda’s tireless contributions have created a ripple effect across generations. Because of her, children are growing up with strong role models, isolated adults feel connected and valued, and vital community services continue to thrive.

Brenda’s enthusiasm and vision for the future are infectious, and her ongoing work ensures that the spirit of community, kindness, and service will live on through everyone she inspires.
