Natasha Dowie Inspires Pupils Through Sport and STEM

Pupils recently welcomed former Liverpool FC Women striker Natasha Dowie for an inspiring day exploring the opportunities available to women and girls in sport and STEM.

Natasha delivered an engaging assembly, sharing her own journey and discussing the barriers women and girls can face, while encouraging pupils to challenge stereotypes and believe in their own potential. She then joined a Year 6 class taking part in the SketchUp for Schools pilot, seeing first-hand how pupils are developing their creativity, problem-solving and digital design skills through STEM.

Empowering Young People at West Lancashire College Through Coding

Our STEM team recently delivered a full day of coding activities at West Lancashire College, introducing young people to the exciting world of digital technology.

Throughout the day, participants took part in a range of interactive coding challenges, developing their problem-solving, teamwork and computational thinking skills in a fun and engaging environment.

Celebrating Diversity at All Ears Poetry Expo

The LFC Foundation STEM team recently took part in the All Ears Poetry Expo, delivering an engaging coding activity centred around diversity and cultural awareness.

Young people selected landmarks of cultural significance before coding their robots to draw the outlines, challenging their peers to guess the landmark. The activity combined creativity, coding and collaboration, while encouraging participants to celebrate and learn about different cultures in an interactive way.

Upcoming STEM Summer Camp

We are excited to be hosting a Summer STEM Camp with SketchUp for Schools on Tuesday 21st July at The Beat, Anfield Stadium.

The camp is open to children aged 7–11 and will give participants the opportunity to take part in a full day of hands-on STEM activities, including 3D design, problem-solving and teamwork through our exciting SketchUp for Schools programme.

Mighty Red Readers Celebrate Final Session

Pupils taking part in the Mighty Red Readers intervention at Park Brow Primary School recently celebrated their final session by sharing their stories with a very special guest, Mighty Red!

The intervention has supported pupils in developing their reading confidence, encouraging a love of books and providing a fun, engaging environment to build literacy skills. The final session gave pupils the opportunity to showcase everything they had achieved throughout the programme!

Shape Your Skills Programme Develops Future Leaders

Michael Ryan continued delivering the Shape Your Skills Award at Wellesbourne Primary and Nursery School, helping pupils develop key life and leadership skills through a combination of classroom learning and practical PE activities.

The programme is designed to equip young people with skills they can use both in school and beyond, with pupils receiving a Leadership Award at the end in recognition of their hard work, commitment and personal development.

Project for Positive Change Pupils Champion Female Empowerment

Pupils from the Project for Positive Change Club at Kings Northway Primary School recently delivered an inspiring assembly to Key Stage 2, centred around the themes of female empowerment and allyship.

Taking the lead, the pupils explored the importance of challenging stereotypes, using kind and respectful language, and having the confidence to speak up for others. Their presentation encouraged fellow pupils to reflect on how small actions can make a big difference in creating a more inclusive and supportive school community.

Hope School Proudly Represents LFC Foundation at PL Disability Festival

On 8th July, pupils from Hope School proudly represented the LFC Foundation at the Premier League Disability Football Festival, hosted by Burnley in the Community.

The festival brought together young people from across the country for a fantastic day of football, teamwork and inclusion, giving participants the opportunity to enjoy the game in a fun and supportive environment while meeting pupils from other Premier League club programmes.

PL Primary Stars Journalism Programme Brings News to Life

Kieran Moore delivered a six-week Premier League Primary Stars Journalism programme with Year 6 pupils at Kirkdale St Lawrence Primary School. Pupils explored the world of journalism, learning about key roles including reporters, editors, producers and researchers.

They also developed a greater understanding of media literacy, investigating how news is created, the importance of fact-checking and how to identify reliable information in an age of fake news.
