Last week, the newly named Broadgreen Beacon, formally Dixons Broadgreen, was officially opened with a special visit from the Lord Mayor of Liverpool, Cllr Barbara Murray

Although Dixons Broadgreen officially joined the Steve Morgan Foundation (SMF) Community Hubs Programme in February 2025, the launch of its hub was slightly delayed with limited delivery.

Guests from across the Liverpool City Region joined to celebrate this exciting milestone, with the Lord Mayor cutting the ribbon to formally mark the opening. The school’s student council also had the privilege of meeting the Lord Mayor, where they shared their vision for how the hub will bring lasting benefits to the local community. The hub been managed by Tammi Hargreaves and Ryan Hardy aims to be a welcoming space for connection, collaboration, and opportunity. With funding and support from the SMF Community Hubs Programme, Broadgreen Beacon will deliver a range of services designed to support parents and children new to the Broadgreen area. These include a weekly food pantry, education opportunities such as ESOL classes for newly arrived families, and wider community support to strengthen cohesion among families of children attending the school.
