Back in 2022, Big Red Summer saw 7,500 young people get involved. This year, over 15,000 young people and families came to the many football and sport camps, park events and community festivals across Liverpool.

Through their partnership with LFC, SC Johnson are challenging fans and LFC Foundation participants to think twice about their impact on the planet. During Big Red Summer 2023, participants were asked to come to sessions with a reusable water bottle to help reduce single-use plastic waste across the community.

This season, SC Johnson are working with LFC to reduce waste across the club by 10%, but they can’t do it alone. We need fans and communities to come together to help make the small changes, as together, they can go a very long way to making the world a better place for future generations.

Matt Parish, CEO of LFC Foundation said, “We were so pleased to work with SC Johnson for another year of our Big Red Summer. It’s one of the busiest times for our team, providing essential sport and summer activities across the Liverpool City Region. Encouraging young people and families to learn about sustainability, and to look after the environments they live in, is vital, and to pass this knowledge on to the next generation is one of many ways we can look after the communities we work so closely with.”

To say thank you for their positive environmental actions, SC Johnson offered points and prizes in MyLFC throughout Big Red Summer. This is something that will continue throughout the season, as LFC and SC Johnson work together to make the world a better place and challenge fans to make the changes necessary to reach our 10% waste reduction goal.
