LFC FoundationBeyond the Goalposts launched at Anfield
Last week, the LFC Foundation proudly launched Beyond the Goalposts. A football initiative dedicated to supporting the wellbeing, confidence and progression of Black and marginalised women and girls across football and sport.
The launch event featured an inspiring panel of speakers, including: Ngunan Adamu, CEO & Founder of iWoman Academy CIC and iWoman Media Ltd, Jess Clarke, Former Professional Footballer, Natasha Dowie, Former Professional Footballer & Liverpool FC Ambassador, Phoebe Schecter, Great Britain Women's Flag Football Captain & Sky NFL Presenter, Natalie Louise Brown, Board Director & Head of Women's Football at Banbury United FC and Roopa Vyas, CEO at Her Game Too. Together, they shared their personal journeys, professional experiences and words of encouragement, inspiring attendees to pursue their ambitions both on and off the pitch.
Liverpool FC Women players Aurélie Csillag and Lucy Parry were also in attendance, showing their support for the initiative and engaging with participants throughout the event.
Beyond the Goalposts has been established to help address the barriers that too often prevent women and girls from accessing opportunities within sport. Whether it's stepping onto the pitch, pursuing leadership positions, developing careers behind the scenes, or simply feeling a greater sense of belonging within football environments.
Dionne Johnson, Equality, Diversity & Inclusion Department Manager at LFC Foundation, spoke after the event: “We were delighted to bring together an inspiring group of internal and external contributors, partners, stakeholders and community champions for an afternoon of connection, collaboration and conversation."
“This launch was more than just an event; it was the beginning of a supportive community where women can grow in confidence, develop new skills, build meaningful connections and realise their potential."
“We're excited to begin this journey together and can't wait to see the impact we'll create over the coming months.”
