Liverpool are reportedly close to reaching an agreement with Real Madrid for the transfer of Mateo Kovacic.

The Reds are said to have identified the Croatia international as a summer target, while Roma are also monitoring him.

Roma have reportedly held talks over the possibility of a deal, but according to Tribal Football, Liverpool are closing in on bringing him to Anfield.

The report claims both Liverpool and Real are on the verge of agreeing to a deal that would see him leave the Bernabeu for an estimated €30million (£23.2m).

Kovacic only completed a move from Inter Milan to Real last summer, but the 22-year-old was limited to just 11 starts in 34 appearances for the Spanish giants.

The Croat is under contract until 2021, but his performances at Euro 2016 are attracting interest from Europe’s top clubs.

Tribal Football’s report adds the Reds are also keeping tabs on Napoli’s Marek Hamsik.

The Slovakian has also enjoyed a good Euro 2016 with his country and alerted Jurgen Klopp with his displays.

And Liverpool have reportedly offered €45m (£34.8m) to Napoli to sign the talented midfielder on a four-year deal.
