Borussia Dortmund defender Mats Hummels may have handed a boost to Liverpool’s transfer plans.

The Germany international has thrown his future into some doubt after admitting he is considering moving on.

Hummels has been linked with a move to Liverpool since Jurgen Klopp’s appointment as Reds manager back in October, and it seems he is open to a new challenge.

"I don’t necessarily want to [leave], but I have to make a big decision. I have been back and forth a lot," Hummels told Bild.

"Age gives you a feeling that you don’t have forever to win. I realise in every year I don’t win a title, I’m closer to retiring."

Hummels scored against Liverpool in last week’s Europa League quarter-final first leg, and the pair will meet again this Thursday for a place in the semi-finals.
