AS Roma warmed up for next week's rematch with Liverpool by beating Chievo 4-1 at the Stadio Olimpico yesterday.

On his team's return to Serie A action, Eusebio Di Francesco made four changes to the starting XI that lost 5-2 at Anfield in the first leg of their Champions League semi-final tie.

Patrik Schick was among the players to benefit, and the striker rewarded his manager's faith by opening the scoring with just nine minutes gone.

Edin Dzeko made it two before half-time but the hosts were reduced to 10 men shortly after the restart when Juan Jesus denied a clear goalscoring opportunity with a pull in the box.

That error went unpunished as Roberto Inglese failed to beat Alisson Becker with the subsequent penalty, and Stephan El Shaarawy made the most of the let-off in making it 3-0 soon after.

Dzeko followed that up with his second goal two minutes later to all but confirm three vital Serie A points for the Romans.

However, there was still time for more action, with Inglese going some way to making amends for his spot-kick miss in powerfully heading home from a corner two minutes from time.

Roma's hopes of a top-four finish were also further boosted later in the day as Internazionale suffered a dramatic 3-2 defeat to league leaders Juventus.
