Joe Gomez insists there will be no shortage of focus among the Liverpool squad when they face Stoke City on Saturday, with a top-four Premier League finish 'far from a done deal' in his eyes.

The Reds will aim to take a big step toward securing Champions League qualification when they host the Potters in a fixture sandwiched by the first and second legs of their semi-final tie against AS Roma in this season's tournament.

According to Gomez, Europe's premier cup competition won't be a distraction at Anfield this weekend, however, with the threat of Chelsea and Tottenham Hotspur in the race for a place in the top four of the English top flight enough to sharpen minds.

He told Premier League Productions: "We're all focused on the league because we want to guarantee that top-four finish, and it's a not an easy task and far from a done deal.

"We all know that and [there are] some tough teams and everyone has got their own cause they're fighting for.

"Obviously Stoke are going to come and be ready and at it so we've got to be ready for that.

"It's a balancing act but [the Premier League] is definitely a priority at the same time."

Stoke arrive on Merseyside four points from safety and without a win in their last 11 league outings, though they still harbour hopes of survival with three games remaining.

Gomez is wary of the fight Paul Lambert's side are likely show as a result of their precarious position and has warned his teammates about underestimating their opponents.

He added: "I think [they're] going to be a massive threat, [their position means] that they're going to put in their all.

"At the end of the day, once that whistle blows at the start of the game, it's a clean slate and that 90 minutes is that 90 minutes, regardless of what's happened in the past games.

"They're going to be up for it and fighting and we know they have their threats. It's going to be a tough game, 100 per cent, so we definitely can't underestimate them."
