Liverpool won’t dwell on the frustration of last weekend’s defeat at Bournemouth when they take the field against West Ham United this afternoon, insists Jordan Henderson.

The Reds let a 3-1 lead at the Vitality Stadium slip to go down to a 4-3 defeat on Sunday; however, Jürgen Klopp’s side are ready to put that disappointment behind them when they tackle the Hammers today.

Henderson wrote in ‘This is Anfield’: “To say we, as a team, were gutted with the outcome at Bournemouth would be a massive understatement. I don’t remember feeling as disappointed after a match for some time.

“It was disappointment mixed with frustration. Having played as well as we did in the first half and even large parts of the second, it simply wasn’t acceptable to lose the game in the manner we did.  As players and as a team we take all the responsibility for it. That’s every single one of us on that pitch; we share together what happened in equal measure.

“While we were on a good run of results we shared the enjoyment of winning and playing well. It is exactly the same when we lose; regardless of what is said or written on the outside, on the inside we win together and lose together – it’s as simple as that in our dressing room.

“So it’s our job now to draw a line under the Bournemouth game quickly and focus on the fixtures we have coming up. It’s going to be an incredibly busy period with the matches coming thick and fast.

“Starting this afternoon with this extremely tough game against West Ham United, we know there are plenty of points up for grabs and we can’t afford to dwell on what’s gone before. That would have been the same if we’d have won at Bournemouth by the way – the focus would have immediately been on what we have to do to get a result today.”
