Kolo Toure insists Liverpool will bounce back from the last-gasp blow dealt in the first leg of their Europa League semi-final tie with Villarreal.

The Reds have a one-goal deficit to overcome if they are to reach the final, after Adrian Lopez struck in stoppage-time at El Madrigal to give the Spanish outfit a slender advantage heading into the return fixture next week.

But the defender feels confident Liverpool can still progress to Basel, having completed a similar turnaround at the expense of Borussia Dortmund in the previous round of the tournament.

"We look for the positives now and there is another game," Toure said. "We had some occasions where we could have scored, but we didn’t. That’s part of the game.

"In the second leg we showed against Dortmund that we can respond – and we will do it in the next game.

"It was a good display from the team, we played well. We created some chances and we passed the ball very well. At the end they had the crucial goal, but that’s part of the game."

He added: "We know we can do it, we just need to believe. This game is done now, we just need to learn from the mistakes and try to do the same as we did against Dortmund."
