Liverpool midfielder James Milner is set to captain his country for the first time when England face the Netherlands on Tuesday evening.

The 30-year-old has previously only skippered the Three Lions after inheriting the armband during games, but will now take on the honour officially for a friendly fixture at Wembley Stadium.

In the absence of the injured Wayne Rooney, vice-captain Gary Cahill stepped in to lead Roy Hodgson's side as they beat Germany 3-2 in Berlin on Saturday.

But, with changes expected for the meeting with the Dutch, Milner will take on the captaincy as England strive for another confidence-boosting victory against top opposition.

Reds will also be able to see Daniel Sturridge in action at Wembley, after Hodgson confirmed the striker will start against Danny Blind's men.
