Defensive responsibilities will always come first but Alberto Moreno admits he would love to put his name on the scoresheet again when Liverpool take on Swansea City today.

The Spaniard has found the target twice for the Reds since his arrival in the summer of 2014, with the last notched against the Welsh side at Anfield 11 months ago.

Given his attacking tendency from the left flank, it comes as no surprise that Moreno is keen to add to that tally – and do it during the latest meeting with Swansea this afternoon too.

He told Liverpoolfc.com: “Let’s hope I can. My style of play is always very attack-minded, and if I could I’d score in every game!

“As a defender the first thing I have to do is defend, but I do love to get forward and join the attack, and then if I get the chance to get on the scoresheet, even better.

“In that game [last season] I scored my second goal for the club, so I was really happy with that. It made it even better that my girlfriend’s family were at that game and they certainly brought me the good luck to score that goal.

“I’m feeling very happy at our prospects for the Swansea game.”

While Jürgen Klopp’s team have racked up handsome wins at both Chelsea and Manchester City during the past month, goals have not flowed quite as freely at home.

It’s an area the manager and his players are determined to improve, though a secondary issue to ensuring maximum points are secured according to Moreno.

The No.18 said: “I realise that since that Swansea game we haven’t won in front of our home fans by a wide margin, but I reckon that our 4-1 win last Saturday at Manchester City must have made all our supporters very happy.

“I also believe that goals aren’t always the key – the main thing is to win the game, and keep working hard and improving with every day.

“I do think it can depend on each match itself. It’s important that we always have to work altogether as a group, always stick together and be united together as a team.

“Win or lose, we have to remain a team, always. And we have to believe in ourselves, so that in turn our supporters believe in us.”
