Brendan Rodgers has confirmed that Jordan Henderson is set for a spell on the sidelines due to a metatarsal injury suffered in training on Friday.

The Liverpool captain was building up fitness ahead of today’s Anfield clash with Norwich City when he picked up the knock at Melwood.

Before kick-off against the Canaries, the manager explained: “It is a big blow because obviously in the last few games we miss a player of that quality.

“It was just unfortunate. He had a problem with his heel and felt fine, then came in and broke his fifth metatarsal.

“It is a big blow for us and obviously a big blow for Jordan.”
