Samed Yesil scored twice as Liverpool U21s produced a superb display to beat Waterford United 6-0 at the RSC Ground on Friday night.

Jack Dunn fired the young Reds into the lead before Northern Ireland international Ryan McLaughlin made it 2-0.

Yesil then saw a penalty saved before Sergi Canos made it 3-0.

Sam Hart also got on the scoresheet before Yesil fired a double to complete the rout.

The game was played in front of a capacity crowd and Waterford United were perfect hosts.

Reflecting on the performance, U21s boss Michael Beale told Liverpoolfc.com: "It was a fantastic evening and for our first game of pre-season we had some very pleasing moments.

"There was a good crowd and it was lovely to be so well received and we were delighted to put on a good performance for the supporters.

"In the first-half Waterford did really well and gave us a good game, and in the second-half we had a lot of pace in our attack with McLaughlin and Canos in the wide areas. We were at a good level and we will only get better.

"It was great to see Jack score and he also hit the bar twice with two fantastic 30-yard efforts.

"It was also pleasing to see Samed score twice. He is a goalscorer and he will take a lot of confidence from that."

Beale's charges are back in action on Sunday when they are in Dublin to face UCD at 3pm BST, at the UCD Bowl.
