New data published by Twitter has revealed that Liverpool FC have the highest percentage of followers from the United Kingdom on the social media platform in the Barclays Premier League.

A fascinating interactive map shared online this week provides a rich insight into where the 20 teams in England's top division have the most supporters, not just at home but around the world.

The Reds claim first place in the UK, with 15.21 per cent of fans who follow clubs on Twitter following @LFC. Arsenal sit second on 15.03 per cent and Manchester United third with 14.60 per cent.

Brendan Rodgers will take his team to Australia for two pre-season fixtures this summer, the club's second visit to the country, and the support in the region is considerable.

The Reds lead the share of followers with 20.58 per cent, and it's a similar story in New Zealand, where an 18.46 per cent total has @LFC in pole position.

Other nations to have Liverpool in top spot include Denmark, Greece, Iceland, Ireland, North Korea, Norway, Papua New Guinea, Thailand and Uruguay.
