A squad of Liverpool U18 players flew out to Indonesia on Thursday to compete in the prestigious Frenz International Cup alongside the likes of Tottenham Hotspur, Valencia and Besiktas.

Neil Critchley's squad, which features the likes of Harry Wilson and Tom Brewitt, will play three group games as they bid to reach the tournament's final on January 14.

The Reds' schedule sees them take on the host team, Frenz United, on Saturday January 3, followed by a meeting with Guangzhou Evergrande of China on Monday January 5. Their final group game will be against Dutch outfit Feyenoord on Wednesday January 7.

Critchley told Liverpoolfc.com: "Our U16 squad went to Indonesia last season to play two friendly games against the Frenz United Academy team and had a fantastic experience.

"We've been invited back to play in the Frenz International Cup and we thought it was an opportunity we couldn't turn down.

"It's a very prestigious tournament with some top teams and we are very proud and privileged to be competing in it and we can't wait for it. We have three group games to play to try and reach the quarter-final stage and then the final is in two weeks' time."
