Sergi Canos netted a hat-trick as Liverpool U18s had to settle for a point after an incredible 5-5 draw away at Derby County on Saturday afternoon.

The home side took the lead in the first minute of the game from the penalty spot and that set the tone for the rest of the match - after just 12 minutes, the scoreline saw Neil Critchley's side 3-2 down.

Incredibly, the young Reds turned it around to lead 4-3 at the break, and after the Rams stormed back in the second half to lead 5-4, Canos fired a 90th minute equaliser to claim his hat-trick and earn a share of the spoils.

Ryan Kent scored the other two goals for Liverpool.

After the game, a somewhat lost for words Critchley told Liverpoolfc.com: "It was great for the supporters watching it but not for the coaches!

"Going forward some of our play was fantastic but as a team our defending was woeful and we have got to do a lot better than that.

"It was pleasing to see Sergi and Ryan score goals and continue their good progress this season - and we had Pedro Chirivella back from injury as well, so that was a bonus for us.

"Jake Brimmer made his debut at this level and did well, but overall I can't be happy with the way we played as we have got to defend better as a team."
