It was a special day at the Academy on Tuesday as 20 lucky Teen Members experienced a day in the life of a Liverpool FC youth player.

The fantastic opportunity to visit the Kirkby base came courtesy of a competition run by LFC Official Membership earlier this summer.

A tour of the complex and its state-of-the-art facilities got the day underway, before Academy director Alex Inglethorpe met the 20 prize-winners.

He talked his guests through the training session he was about to put the U18s team through – and the visitors then watched on from the sidelines.

Having witnessed the action on the pitch, the Teen Members were next whisked off for media training with Steve Hothersall of LFCTV and Radio City.

The presenter and reporter spoke to the group about his background and offered crucial tips on how to handle yourself in front of the camera when talking to the media.

A tasty lunch prepared by the Academy chefs was part of the nutritional aspect of the day, with expert advice explaining how to eat the right things.

Reds youngsters Bobby Adekanye, Conor Masterson and Adam Lewis were then on hand to take questions from the group about their experiences and life as an LFC player.

Finally, it was time for the group to show off their own football skills in a training session with Academy coaches – while wearing a brand new pair of New Balance boots.

The 20 prize-winners headed for home with a certificate and goodie bag as an extra memento of a day they are unlikely to forget.
