Liverpool vs AC Milan: International Champions Cup

Liverpool's second International Champions Cup fixture of the summer was a meeting with AC Milan at Levi's Stadium.

Goals after the interval from Divock Origi and Roberto Firmino secured a deserved victory for Jürgen Klopp's side in California.

Take a look through the key stats from Levi's Stadium...

Full Time

Liverpool 2-0 AC Milan

A good night's work for Liverpool, who secure a victory in the International Champions Cup thanks to second-half goals from Origi and Firmino.

More strong approach work by Ojo sees the ball eventually rebound out to Firmino at the edge of the area to blast at goal - the 'keeper denies him a second, though.

Ojo has been bright since coming on and the youngster lets fly from around 25 yards in search for the top corner, sending the shot off target.

WisdomBrannagan and Randall brought on.

GOAL! Roberto Firmino!

The lead is doubled as Ojo's strike is deflected perfectly into Firmino's path, yards from goal, and the No.11 knocks it in on the slide. 2-0.

Disallowed Goal

Now Origi has the ball in the net and it is ruled out for offside. He had latched onto a loose one and fired a great shot low into the net, but the linesman chalks it off.

Origi close to a second as Moreno dinks an inviting delivery across the box, but Calabria wraps a leg around the striker to stop a simple tap-in.

A moment of top quality finishing from Origi to open the scoring. Great skill to create the space for the shot and clinically put away 1-0

Ojo on for Milner.

GOAL! Divock Origi!!

And the Belgian now has the goal Liverpool deserve. Great footwork cutting in from the left creates the space for a shot and Origi's finish is clinical, curved into the far corner and leaving the goalkeeper no chance.

Little to report in the opening 10 minutes since the restart, though Liverpool remain the likelier to break the deadlock. Origi is causing concern with his pace too.

Second half underway

And AC Milan get the game going again.

Six changes for Liverpool

Clyne, Firmino, Markovic, Moreno, Origi and Stewart are on for the second half

Half Time

Liverpool 0-0 AC Milan

Liverpool have created a number of chances and been in control of the match, but it's goalless at the break at Levi's Stadium in California.

Yellow Card

Lallana has picked up a booking.

Another effort and another missed chance. Coutinho releases Mane into space and the forward aims for a spot inside the near post - Gabriel reacts smartly to stop it.

Two opportunities in quick succession for Liverpool, but still no goal.

Mane breaks clear on the right and sweeps a cross into the middle for the waiting Sturridge, who is pushed slightly wide and opts not to strike.

Instead, the No.15 sets up Lallana for a delicate clip which drifts narrowly over the crossbar.

Klopp's men are dominating at the moment and the next chance comes to Sturridge, teed up by Wijnaldum on the left side. Yet again, though, Milan have a covering defender and it's Abate with another crucial block.

It feels like a goal is coming...

Milner supports Liverpool's latest attack from left-back and should try his luck having been found by a Sturridge backheel. The vice-captain dwells a little, however, and is dispossessed.

Analyse tonight's game as it happens with our Opta chalkboard...

The 1⃣1⃣ Reds taking on AC Milan!

Liverpool break quickly on the counter-attack and as the play goes from left to right, Wijnaldum feeds Sturridge in space in the right channel. He goes for a curler and once more, Antonelli gets his body in the way.

Now an opportunity for Lallana after nice approach work involving Coutinho and Sturridge. The No.20 takes a touch and shoots - Antonelli gets in the way.

A superb dinked pass by Montolivo from yards outside the area matches an incoming run by Suso but the former Reds man can't control and the ball rolls out for a goalkick.

At the other end, Abate attacks down the right flank and sends in a low ball looking for a teammate - Lovren is in the way, though, and clears for Liverpool.

Mane almost puts the opening goal on a plate for Coutinho with a direct run along the right flank and cross to the back post, but Abate recovers brilliantly to block out the Brazilian.

Daniel Sturridge kicks off for Liverpool. Here we go...
