News'We've stuck together' - Woodham and Olsson react to Chelsea draw
Lily Woodham and goalscorer Beata Olsson praised Liverpool FC Women's ability to stick together following Sunday's 1-1 draw with Chelsea.
Gareth Taylor's squad secured a valuable point at St Helens Stadium against the reigning champions in Barclays Women's Super League action.
Olsson scored to level from a Woodham assist after Alyssa Thompson's earlier opener as the Reds and Blues played out a hard-fought contest.
Read on below as the pair gave their post-match thoughts to Sky Sports…
Lily Woodham
On the performance…
I think from the performance it just shows how hard we work. We've had a lot going on at the club and we've stuck together. We know we need to be better and taking that point today will just boost us on into the next game.
On how tough mentally it was to battle towards the end…
I think it's really hard. We know playing against teams like Chelsea and the other top four that it's always going to be a tough challenge, but when you stick together and have that determination you can nick a goal and stick with it.
On starting to gel in Gareth Taylor's system…
I think we showed a little bit more composure on the ball and in the second half it dropped off a bit, but we knew if we got a point today it puts us in a great position for the next few weeks. We've got a lot of big games before the Christmas break. He's been really good with us. We're learning every day and trying new things and we're just going to stick to it and go from there.
Beata Olsson
On her goal…
You maybe have to ask Lily as she did all the hard work to play the ball through to me! We knew that we are quick up front and they are a bit slow with their centre-backs. It was a great ball so I just had to put it in.
On scoring three goals in three games…
I think we work hard together and everything that we do sets us up for these moments. I’m really happy to have scored the goals but I'm just in a position to get served really well.
