NewsTrey Nyoni: Pre-season has been all right so far - but I need to keep improving
Trey Nyoni is hoping his hard work this summer will pay off with regular appearances for Liverpool in the 2026-27 season.
The 19-year-old featured in all three of the Reds' pre-season matches during their just-concluded tour of the USA.
He embraced the opportunities to showcase his talents to new head coach Andoni Iraola.
Nyoni told Liverpoolfc.com: "Obviously over the summer I knew I had a lot to improve, so I've tried to work on it over the summer and come back and give myself the best chance possible this pre-season.
"Obviously I still need to keep improving, keep developing each game but so far it's been all right."
Liverpool defeated Sunderland and Wrexham while Stateside but finished their trip with a 4-2 defeat by Leeds United on Sunday.
The Reds were 2-0 up at half-time in Chicago, thanks to goals from Luke Chambers and Florian Wirtz, only to end up conceding four times after the break.

Watch on YouTubeReflecting on the tour, Nyoni continued: "I think at the start the first game was good, obviously we won, but we knew we could do better. Then I think in the second game we played a lot better.
"Today, I think in the first half we played really well. I just think in the second half we lost our way a bit. But we're still learning the system, so we'll keep progressing.
"I think obviously there's a few new guys and obviously a new manager as well, so I feel like the bond of being there together is the core at the end of the day. It's been a good tour.
"Liverpool is a massive club so it's expected, to be fair, but the fan base has been really, really good. The support that we've had, we can feel it, so we appreciate it."
