WatchResponsibility, intensity and 'competing for everything' - Gravenberch, Kerkez and Szoboszlai talk in 'The Reds Roundtable'

The trio recently sat down along with presenter Vicky Gomersall for a wide-ranging chat that features discussions on their footballing journeys, leadership and Liverpool's new era under Andoni Iraola.

Szoboszlai, of course, was recently appointed one of the club's vice-captains for 2026-27 and he says: "To be honest, I like to have responsibility. Maybe last season, I think on the pitch I actually tried to take responsibility and it worked out quite well.

"Now I maybe try to [take responsibility] off the pitch a little bit more, but I think in this team we have a lot of guys who like to take responsibility, which is nice and [makes it] easier for everyone.

"I think our main point is to become a real family because then after that we can be successful. To talk is easy but I think you also have to show it on the pitch and I think that's the main point.

"What this season is going to ask us is are we ready to compete again on the highest level? I think we are but we have to start to do it."

Gravenberch listens before adding: "We know that it's not going to be easy, but I think we have the team for it."

Meanwhile, Kerkez, who also played under Iraola at AFC Bournemouth, states: "The intensity, the level he wants us to play at for the whole 90 minutes, he wants us to run and to press a lot and to show it... so I think it's a good suit for us.

"We have to listen and run a lot, but if we play like that I think we have a good chance to compete for everything."

And Gravenberch feels that progress is being made thanks to the work being done both in games and every day at the AXA Training Centre.

The midfielder notes: "The manager, I think it takes time also for him to make adjustments to where we can play best in terms of on the ball and off the ball. But I think we are getting there."
