A minute's silence was held in memory of Matt Beard ahead of Liverpool's Carabao Cup fixture against Southampton.

The former LFC Women manager, who had two spells in charge of the Reds, suddenly passed away at the weekend.

Beard led the team to back-to-back WSL titles in 2013 and 2014 and during his second spell returned the team to the top flight by winning the Women's Championship.

Before kick-off at Anfield versus Saints, all in attendance paused to honour Beard with a minute of silence.

Players also wore black armbands for the game as a mark of respect.
