Respects paid to Kevin Keegan at Anfield on Sunday
Respects were paid to the iconic Kevin Keegan at Anfield on Sunday afternoon.
A talismanic figure for Liverpool FC during the 1970s, Keegan sadly died at the age of 75 last month after a cancer diagnosis.
Much-loved throughout the world of football, Keegan’s six years at the Reds included 323 appearances and 100 goals.
The forward, who would go on to claim the Ballon d’Or twice in his career, lifted three league titles, a European Cup, an FA Cup and two UEFA Cups while with Liverpool.
Sunday’s pre-season friendly against AS Monaco was the club’s first home fixture since the announcement of Keegan’s passing.
A period of applause was held in his honour before kick-off and players wore black armbands as a mark of respect.
Tributes were displayed inside the stadium and there was a commemorative edition of the matchday programme featuring Keegan on the cover.
