Milan are an opposition well known to Liverpool having met in the Champions League on five occasions – including twice in the tournament's final.
The Serie A club have a storied history in the European Cup, lifting the trophy seven times, with their most recent triumph coming in 2007 with a victory over the Reds in Athens.
Liverpool famously overcame their opponents previously in the 2005 'Miracle of Istanbul' final, while another two meetings came in the group stage in 2021, both of which were won by the Reds.
Arne Slot's squad also travelled to San Siro in the Champions League league phase last September, the last meeting between the two teams, and secured a 3-1 result over their opponents.
However, Milan have been through change since then, and have recently reappointed head coach Massimiliano Allegri, who is now in his second stint as boss having been at the helm from 2010 to 2014.
Milan finished eighth in Serie A last term and were runners-up in the Coppa Italia. They also exited the Champions League in the knockout play-off phase, but did lift the Supercoppa Italiana, a four-team tournament between the winners and runners-up of Serie A and the Coppa Italia.
In the ongoing summer transfer window, additions for Milan have included Luka Modric and Pervis Estupinan.
Ahead of the meeting with Liverpool, they were beaten 1-0 by Arsenal in Singapore on Wednesday night.
