Reaction'Plenty to build on' - Falk and Holland on Liverpool's form and Brighton draw
Liverpool FC Women are steadily building performance levels and confidence, believe Jennifer Falk and Ceri Holland.
The Reds played out a 0-0 draw at Brighton & Hove Albion on Sunday in which both teams might have snatched all three points near the end.
The result in the Barclays Women’s Super League followed a vital 2-0 victory over Leicester City as Gareth Taylor’s squad continue to register improved results in 2026.
“It’s obviously a good point, it’s a hard place to come,” Holland told Sky Sports post-match.
“Obviously we came to get the win and we’re probably a little bit disappointed that we couldn’t get it over the line. But Brighton are a good team so we’ll take the point.”
Falk, who preserved Liverpool’s fifth clean sheet of the calendar year with a fine stop to push Manuela Vanegas’ header onto the crossbar late on, said: “It was right below the bar and I was really happy I made the save. It was an important save.
“We’re being brave in our defending all over the pitch, communication is great. It’s that we defend so well over the whole pitch, the whole team is defending really well.
“Now we can build from this and score a goal next time and get three points.”
With four fixtures remaining in the WSL season, the Reds are in 10th place, five points clear of Leicester – who have a game in hand – in the relegation play-off spot.
Asked about Liverpool’s position, Holland said: “We don’t think too much about that. It’s a good point but we just take each game as it comes.
“We’ll review this today and then we go to Everton next week and that’s another big game for us and one we feel very capable and confident we can go and get the three points.
“It’s another step in the right direction, plenty to build on.”
