NewsMo Salah explains Anfield wish for Jordan Henderson

Liverpool’s clash with Brentford to conclude 2025-26 will be an emotional occasion as Salah and teammate Andy Robertson bid farewell to the Reds after nine hugely successful years apiece.

Former captain Henderson ended his dozen-season stint with the club during the off-season in 2023, having skippered the team to multiple major honours – including the 2019 Champions League and 2019-20 Premier League.

He is now with the Bees and set to be part of the visiting squad for that fixture in L4 on May 24.

Salah told Steven Gerrard during an interview for TNT Sports: “Last game of the season is against Brentford. People in the city know how much it meant to Hendo also, being here and captain of the club for 12 years.

“More than me, more than Virg [Virgil van Dijk], more than Robbo, more than anyone. He didn’t get the send-off or farewell he deserved because he left immediately.

“I don’t know how the club is going to manage it, I have no plan, I don’t know how the supporters will also manage it, but I really wish they do something special for him because he’s been one of the best players in this club.

“Without him and being there in the dressing room, without him we wouldn’t have achieved what we achieved. So I really hope the fans will give him a good send-off.

“I really hope so because, again, if you’re not in the dressing room maybe you don’t know much what’s going on there.

“You [Gerrard] are aware of that, you played with him – you know how much he’s passionate and loves the club.

“So I really wish the club will do something for him and the fans also can do something special for him. Because this is Liverpool and we do it this way.”
