Curtis Jones has progressed from Liverpool’s Academy to achieve all of his childhood dreams.
The Scouser has made more than 200 appearances and won six major honours with the club he joined at U9 level.
The swagger and talent to back it up were present right from the start of Jones’ time in the senior set-up, and it became clear early on this was a player who would relish the pressure that comes with football at the elite level.
Having debuted in the FA Cup in 2019, Jones opened his goalscoring account a year later in the same competition in unforgettable fashion.
A stunning curler from distance against Everton has gone down as one of the great Merseyside derby goals.
He grew and grew in importance to Jürgen Klopp, developing into a midfielder who learned to love the defensive side of the game in addition to his attacking responsibilities.
After earning a winner’s medal for the Premier League title success in 2019-20, Jones then appeared 34 times in the following campaign. He helped the Reds lift the Carabao Cup and FA Cup in 2021-22, a season that was disrupted for him by a freak eye injury.
Jones’ development continued in an upward trajectory and was recognised at international level by England.
A career-best goals haul of five and a second taste of League Cup glory in 2023-24 were followed by 46 appearances and another league winner’s medal under Arne Slot in the next season.
In December 2025, the No.17 became the youngest midfielder since Steven Gerrard to reach a double-century of outings for Liverpool.
“I only had one goal in my mind: that was to play at this club,” he said after hitting that proud milestone. “And that’s what I’m doing so I’ve got a massive smile on my face.”
